Solving basic problems if Bluetooth does not work

In theory, a simple automatic algorithm for connecting devices via Bluetooth in practice may fail, sometimes Bluetooth technology does not work. Problems with Bluetooth manifest themselves in different ways: the adapter does not connect, the Piconet does not work, the phone does not broadcast an audio stream, the receiver does not hear the audio signal, the batch file transfer function does not work, settings management is not available, the connected device cannot be connected, the connection speed is below 1 Mbps/s, the Internet access point does not work, the device of specification Bluetooth 5.3 that supports all protocols is constantly disconnected and profiles, there is no icon in the taskbar or on the desktop. One way or another, it is always possible to use Bluetooth wireless communication without problems, and as a rule, in order for the wireless connection to work, it is enough to fix just one problem.

Since many Bluetooth users periodically experience certain failures, it makes sense to consider, structure and offer universal methods for solving all possible problems if Bluetooth does not work.

Image: Symbolic pairing of two Bluetooth devices

It is possible to connect two Bluetooth devices under the following conditions:

  • 1. Both digital devices must be in good working order and function properly. For example, the phone does not print to a wireless inkjet printer because the printer has run out of ink, and an error due to incorrect refilling of the cartridge did not occur. The image does not appear on the sheet of paper, but Bluetooth is not to blame.
  • 2. Both devices must have compatible (including protocols and profiles) compatible Bluetooth modules. For example, some phones are not able to play music on two wireless speakers at the same time, because all three devices do not have the corresponding Bluetooth Dual Audio protocol of the Bluetooth 4.0 standard. Today, any modern device will cope with this task.
  • 3. The Bluetooth interface must be activated in both devices, otherwise initialization does not take place, pairing between devices is impossible. Some laptops, speakers, sensors and other devices have special mechanical switches, without switching them, Bluetooth is not activated. Also, the Bluetooth module can be disabled and enabled from the BIOS / UEFI level. It is possible that the equipment does not have a Bluetooth module or it is damaged.
  • 4. Bluetooth must be enabled in the device settings programmatically. Different versions of Android and iOS for smartphones and tablets, as well as different versions of Windows, MacOS, Unix, Linux and others operating systems for desktops and laptops, have different settings. The Bluetooth options and access to the settings itself are also different.
  • 5. The devices should go into pairing mode. Some devices are paired immediately after turning on the Bluetooth, some after a certain time. There are devices that require separate pairing activation.
  • 6. An attempt to connect may be accompanied by a brief display of a four-digit PIN code. At this point, you need to pay attention. As a rule, the pin code looks like this: 0000, 1111, 1234, or another four-digit code that can be found on the case, sticker, instructions, etc. In this situation, the pairing process will occur only after confirmation with the PIN code.
  • 7. Devices must be located within the radius of the radio signal. Usually this distance is up to 50 meters, but some Bluetooth modules achieve only a few meters. Walls and other radio shields can significantly reduce this distance.
  • 8. Bluetooth can be annoying if the list of connected devices is too large. Removing unused devices and rebooting solves the problem. Some versions of Android, such as 4.4 KitKat, have this problem.
  • 9. Disruption of communication over time can also be attributed to connection problems. This often happens with Android smartphones when saving battery power in Deep Sleep mode. It will help to turn off the power saving mode for the corresponding applications in the settings, as well as in the on-screen menu of the lost device itself. The problem is relevant for smart watches, fitness bracelets, sensors and other devices for which a constant connection throughout the day is desirable, and monitoring the connection status is not as convenient as in the case of a headset, speaker, mouse or keyboard. However, in any case, the constantly “falling off” device does not add optimism. As in the previous case, removing all devices that are currently unnecessary from the list of paired devices will help.
  • 10. Not all devices interact, even when there are no problems with Bluetooth. The reason may be an outdated operating system, Bluetooth version, protocol or profile conflict, software failure. Refresh or free download Bluetooth driver for Windows 10 / 11, 8 / 8.1, 7, XP (32-bit and 64-bit) from the site https://www.bluetooth.today anyone can easily and quickly. It happens that the smartphone does not detect some devices, for example, a multimedia system in a car, navigation, or a hands-free kit. Sometimes a firmware or software update helps, sometimes it makes sense to just replace the device.
  • 11. Your laptop, netbook, or desktop computer must have the correct Bluetooth drivers properly installed. Before installation, it is recommended to remove the old drivers and all related software, restart the computer, and only then proceed with the new installation. On the page https://www.bluetooth.today/en/downloads You can legally free download Bluetooth Driver for Windows XP, 7, 8.1, 10, 11 (32 and 64-bit latest versions) for any computer. This driver is suitable for both desktop and laptop. After installing the software and rebooting the operating system, the Bluetooth wireless interface icon will appear in the tray on the right, through which all settings and functions are accessed. The software allows you to enable fast communication with a short range, use the wireless transmission and reception channel at your discretion.
  • 12. If none of the above helped, and Bluetooth does not work, it remains to contact the service center.

Everything works for me, it would be nice to know if something goes wrong.
